Re-Enrollment, Course Selection, & Tuition Assistance
At York Catholic, we are grateful for your partnership with us in the education of your children who bless our community everyday with their talents.  Please read the following information thoroughly as it contains important information regarding course selection, re-enrollment, and tuition assistance for the 2018-2019 school year.

Course Selection
Junior High
Junior High students should have returned their course selection paperwork with the appropriate signatures.  Junior High students will register for courses online during computer class in the week ahead.

Quick Links

Senior High
Senior High students should be talking with their subject level teachers regarding appropriate course selection for 2018-2019. Students in grades 9 through 11 now have access to the online course selection portal in MMS. This will remain open through February 23. During this time, students should select their courses for next school year. After completing the process online, students are instructed to print the course selection sheet and have each of their teachers sign next to the desired subject courses. A parent signature is required as well. These forms will be due February 23, 2018.

Parents, please take the time to click here  to review our course catalog for next school year. We are excited to be offering two new courses to include Women in Science, and Biology 1.5. We are also looking forward to the return of Journalism as an English elective.

An additional change in the academic schedule next year for both Junior High and Senior High involves the move to a static schedule. Currently all courses rotate across an 8 day cycle. Next year, we will move to a 6 day static cycle and all major courses will be offered at the same time daily.

Re-enrollment
In an effort to prepare for the budget and enrollment numbers for next year, we have aligned the re-enrollment process with our course selection once again. Tuition figures for next year will be published in early April after budget approval by the School Board. In order to budget appropriately, we are asking families to re-enroll now. The early re-enrollment fee is $150.00 per student.  After February 23, 2018, the re-enrolment fee will increase to $200.00, with an increase to $250.00 after April 6, 2018. As in the past, $150.00 of the re-enrollment fee will be applied to your child's 2018-2019 tuition.

Tuition Assistance
Our Advancement Department continues to work hard with our donors to increase tuition assistance opportunities for our students. If you plan to apply for assistance, please be sure to do so no later than April 17, 2018. If you require assistance in completing this application, you may make an appointment with our Business Office Manager, Ms. Heather Dougherty, March 20 or March 21, at hdougherty@yorkcatholic.org or 717-846-8871 x215.

Mission Collection:  Four Diamonds
Our February 21 Missions Collection will be donated to Penn State Hershey's Four Diamonds Fund.  Our Student Council is working hard to present another fun and exciting Mini-THON on Saturday, March 10. The mission of the Four Diamonds Fund is to conquer childhood cancer by assisting children being treated at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital through superior care, comprehensive support, and innovative research.   Since its creation in 1972, the Four Diamonds Fund has helped thousands of children and their families, while supporting pediatric cancer research.  Penn State's programs are made possible thanks to the generosity of many donors, Mini-THONS, and THON held every year at Penn State's University Park. The February YC Missions Collection during homeroom is another way to donate to this worthy cause.
Mini-THON Donation Week
Mini-THON is just around the corner and all participants are reminded that they must submit a $30 minimum donation to The Four Diamonds Fund by next Friday, February 23. Donations can be given to Mrs. Wertz in room 103 at YC or paid online by clicking here to use The Four Diamonds Online Social Fundraising Website, DonorDrive.   All donations go towards helping conquer pediatric cancer.
For the Kids Friday

As part of our support of the Four Diamonds for our Mini-THON event, students may pay $1 to wear blue or gold shirts for the next four Fridays leading up to Mini-THON. Blue is the official color of the Four Diamonds and yellow is the color recognized in the fight against pediatric cancer. Students should pay their $1 in homeroom on Friday. Uniform pants, skirts, or skorts must be worn.
Early Dismissal / Teacher In-Service

We will be dismissing students at 11:30 AM on Friday, February 16, so that teachers may attend an important In-service. School districts will run their pick-up earlier to accommodate our students. There will be no supervision available in the building after 11:30 AM. Any students remaining after dismissal will need to call a parent or guardian for pick-up.
Snow Make-up Day - Feb. 19

When the school calendar was created, we built in 4 snow days.  We have now used 5 so at this point we need to make up 1 day.  In light of this, we will now be in session on Presidents' Day, Monday, February 19.
Welcome Wednesday
York Catholic will be open from 10 AM-2 PM on Wednesday, February 21, for families to drop by for a tour with one of our YC Student Ambassadors and to meet with our Admissions Director to get questions answered.  For more information, contact Heather Hoffman at  hhoffman@yorkcatholic.org  or 717-846-8871 x220.
Reconciliation

The York Catholic community will have the opportunity to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation on February 22-23 from 9 AM-12 noon. Several priests from the York Deanery will be available to hear confessions. This is a great chance to begin the Easter season with a "clean slate" spiritually.
Driver's Education

York Catholic is no longer partnering with Five Star Driver Training as a resource for our students. Mr. Trimmer is no longer available. We will continue to explore possible options to refer families who are seeking driver's education.
Basketball District Playoffs
Congratulations to both the boys and girls basketball teams who have qualified for the District III-AAA Tournament.

The boys open play Monday, February 19, versus Lancaster Mennonite at 7 PM at Lancaster Mennonite High School.

The girls' team opens play Tuesday, February 20, versus Middletown at 7 PM at York Catholic.

District tickets are not sold in advance and are only available at the door the nights of the games. Adults $6 and Students $4.

Please note: YC Season Passes or League Passes are not accepted by the District for admission. All attendees must purchase a ticket.
Inclement Weather
During inclement weather that would cause a school closing or delay of schedule, York Catholic will call/text/email you through our One Call Now Emergency Notification system.  Other modes of notification include WGAL TV-8, Fox43, and the YC website.  Students from individual school districts are automatically excused if their district closes and does not provide transportation to YCHS.  The exceptions to this are Southern and Southeastern.  These students follow York Catholic's delay and closing schedule.
