Hot Breakfast
Breakfast this coming Sunday, February 18, will be provided by guest chefs, Ann & Rip Phillips.

Please plan on joining everyone in Board Hall between 8:30am and 9:45 where you will not only enjoy great food but a time for fellowship.

St. Luke's Book Club *DATE CHANGE*
YOU ARE INVITED to St Luke's Book Club, February 15, Thursday, at 6:30pm! Our book selection for February is My Grandmother Asked Me To Tell You She's Sorry by Fredrik Bachman, who also wrote "A Man Called Ove," which led the New York Times Book List for several weeks last year and your St Luke's Book Club recommends it, too, for your reading enjoyment.
The storyline for our current selection describes an apartment building with a myriad of eclectic and interesting folks and the interaction of a little girl's polarizing Grandmother with the residents and her own family.  Grandmother was WAY before her time with ideas, actions, and education of her granddaughter.  Brilliantly written which may encourage the reader to review events and actions in his/her own life.  This book also provides a way to teach children fundamental truths about the world.  Paints a vivid portrait of the relationship between an older person nearing the end of life and a young child which gives us examples for people at opposite ends of life to learn from each other.  Vividly portrays how folks of all ages are often very much alike and how stories from older folks can provide comfort for children; i.e., fairy tales do play a part in inter-generational relationships.

MEETING INFO : Lyman House, February 15, SECOND (2nd) Tuesday monthly at 6:30 PM for 2+- hours of rousing conversations and introductions to books of almost every genre. At the end of each meeting, we discuss books for the next month's selection, so bring your suggestions with you.

Music Series resumes Feb. 18 at 4pm
We're pleased to welcome Scott Moore, violin, John Moore, saxophone and Lisa Lewis, piano, in concert on the first Sunday of Lent, February 18 at 4:00 pm.  Choral Evensong, sung by St. Luke's Choir will begin at 4:30 p.m.   Evensong is the perfect service to invite your friends and neighbors to attend!  St. Luke's is a beautiful and evocative setting for 16th century choral music.  The choir will sing Robert Whyte's "Christ who art both night and day",  Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis (Collegium Regale) by Herbert Howells and "Evening Prayer" by Robert Lee.

The Bluegrass Mass concert scheduled in March has been postponed until Fall 2018 - please mark your calendars.

Adult Formation Hour during Lent
Lectio Divina - "Holy or Divine reading" - is an ancient Christian practice of scriptural reading, meditation, and prayer intended to promote communion with God and to increase personal knowledge of God's word.

Please join Reverend Shelley and Jon Siegrist between the services on the 5 Sundays of Lent and Palm Sunday (beginning February 18th) to learn the history and methodology of this practice and explore different variations of Lectio that may help deepen your spirituality and bring new meaning to the Lenten season
.

St. Luke's Annual Silver Tea
St. Luke's Annual Silver Tea will be Sunday, February 25, in Board Hall following the 10:00am service.   St. Luke's has hosted the Silver Tea for over 45 years. Donations support Home of the Innocents which provides shelter and care for children who are without support when their families are in trouble. A representative for the Home will speak at the Tea.

This year's Tea reception will feature tea, coffee, wine, etc. and finger foods. Anyone who can donate, please bring finger foods to Board Hall. If you need child care, please contact the church office in advance and we will gladly provide it. Come enjoy the fellowship and participate in outreach.

In 2011, St. Luke's received the Childfriend of the Year award from Home of the Innocents for all the support we have given them over these many years. Let's generously support the Home again this year!

St. Luke's Silver Tea Committee:

AN OPEN WELCOME
That's not only the name of our capital campaign but it is fundamental to our mission as a parish. We are a community open to all and a community that genuinely welcomes all. Six of our member families are demonstrating that spirit of openness by hosting a party gathering in their homes (see below for the schedules). There are several offerings over several weeks and in several locations. One should fit your schedule. You are not only welcome but encouraged to attend. Please just notify the host of your interest in attending their campaign informational and inspirational gathering. Since refreshments are being served, each host wishes to have plenty for all who wish to come.  May God grant our church great success in our mission endeavors together.
