This month, The Avery Coonley School in Downers Grove joins the growing list of schools combating food waste. Also, the Division 9 Key Clubs feature a SCARCE rescue project as their service project.

Want to add a greater element of investigation to your school litter clean up? Consider adding in an audit of the litter you find.

Earn recognition for your school's environmental efforts! You may be doing more than you think. In 2017, two DuPage schools were chosen as Illinois' nominees - could that be your school this year?
Hands-on Learning

Attention high school teachers: Get your students involved in this amazing STEAM project! Student teams design and construct a sustainable building, then present to judges in a bid for cash prizes. 

The learning doesn't stop there! Students have the opportunity to tour sustainable infrastructure and explore green careers from professionals in the field. Participation is open to any high school student in DuPage County, with a limit of 10 teams per high school.

Use this day to explore the challenges polar bears face due to climate change and how humans can help. Check out tips from Polar Bears International and the Save the Polar Bears Game (pictured) from SCARCE volunteer Joyce Hemphill.

Foresight Prep is an intensive, pre-college summer institute for high school students passionate about sustainability and social equity. Early Bird and priority application deadlines are approaching. A fantastic opportunity for motivated students seeking to explore a career in sustainability.

Explore the world of caves and karsts without leaving your classroom! Your class can tune in to the live webcast and Q&A with cave scientists in Luray Caverns, VA. Check out their resources for teachers to prep for the big day.
