O God of covenant, O God of promise, as the forty days of rains destroyed the world's corruption and watered new beginnings of life, so in the saving flood of baptism we are washed clean and claimed as your beloved child.  Throughout these forty days, unseal within us the springs of your grace, cleanse our hearts of all that is not holy, and help us daily remember your gift of new life.  Amen.
