Did you know?
"The popular customs of showing love and affection on St. Valentine's Day is almost a coincidence with the feast day of the saint: During the Medieval Age, a common belief in England and France was that birds began to pair on Feb.14, "half-way through the second month of the year." Chaucer wrote in his "Parliament of Foules" (in Old English): "For this was on Seynt Valentyne's day, When every foul cometh ther to choose his mate." For this reason, the day was dedicated to "lovers" and prompted the sending of letters, gifts, or other signs of affection."

The 2018 "Persevering Through the Storm"  Men of Christ Conference will be on March 10, 2018. This is a Catholic conference for men of all ages.

School Start 2018
We have been receiving inquiries regarding the start date for next year.  We have to wait until Kettle Moraine, Waukesha, and Pewaukee set their calendars before we can develop ours.  We plan to have our calendar finalized by May 1. Typically, school starts sometime during the last two weeks of August.  Please keep those weeks free from vacations.

The Middle School Youth Ministry office is offering a special program on February 18 from 11:00am to noon, or February 19, from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. February 12, 2018
From the Desk of Ellen Knippel, Principal

Dear Parents,

As Lent begins on Wednesday, Feb.14th, we invite all parents to join us for 8:00am Mass.  Lent is a very important time for conversion of spirit.  Here at St. Anthony on the Lake, our students will have an opportunity to implement the three practices specific to Lent:  Prayer, Almsgiving, and Fasting.

Children are never too young to begin these practices. Each teacher will find age-appropriate ways for their students to participate in these practices.  Be sure to ask your child what ways this is happening in their classroom.

As a school, we will be praying the Stations of the Cross on Mondays at 1:30pm (all are welcome to join us) and doing various collections throughout the Lenten season.

Finally, our Tree of Good Deeds has been emptied and we will fill it once again!  Please let me know if deeds have been done at home, and we will gladly add them to our tree!

As a reminder:  since Valentine's Day falls on Ash Wednesday, our Valentine celebrations will be held on Tues., Feb 13 - which is also the last dress-down day until after Easter.

Happy Lent!
Blessings!
Mrs. Knippel

We are collecting the following hygiene items:
soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, toilet paper, wash cloths, toothbrushes, small tissues, hand/body lotion, and hand sanitizer.
Thank you for reaching out!  We appreciate all the support from St Anthony on the Lake parish and school.
Items can be travel or regular size.  Travel size items will go to St. Ben's Homeless Shower Program and regular size go to the House of Peace's emergency hygiene pantry for families and individuals at risk of becoming homeless.
Through March 5th, your child can bring in any of the items and drop them off in the respective boxes outside of the science lab or with their classroom teachers. If you are unable to make it to a store, we will also accept cash donations that will be used to purchase the remaining items.
The Capuchin Friars work to prayerfully build sister-brotherhood in the world through their attention to the basic spiritual and human needs of those around them, especially the poor and disenfranchised. We thank you for your donations and dedication to service.
