With the deadlines for CapGrants and FY2019 Discretionary Funding fast approaching, I was proud to host a free budget workshop facilitated by the NonProfit HelpDesk, part of JCCGCI (Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island) on Monday, January 29th where over 60 individuals from not-for-profit and cultural organizations were in attendance.

CAPITAL FUNDING

DISCRETIONARY FUNDING
All interested applicants must submit their requests by Tuesday,  February 20,  2018  through the New York City Council's  website .

WOMEN'S CAUCUS EXPENSE FUNDING
While the Women's Caucus does not directly allocate Discretionary/Expense funding, we are able to support as a Caucus those funding requests that will advance the cause of gender equity throughout the City. The projects that the Caucus supports will be submitted in priority order to the Speaker of the City Council, asking for the Council to fund these projects through Citywide funding. 

Please read the instructions to learn how to apply for funding.

Expense Funding Supplemental Form is due on Tuesday, February 20 at 5 PM.

Non-City Capital Supplemental Form is due on Monday, March 26 at 5 PM.

After you submit these applications, we will reach out to qualifying organizations to present before the full Caucus.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
There are many aspects of questioning, but we have identified the top frequently asked questions.

Q: What is the HHS Accelerator Prequalification Status?
A: For award amounts of over $10,000, the City Council requires that organizations be pre-qualified. More information can be found in the middle drop-down on the HHS Accelerator Website.

Q: What is the maximum award amount?
A: If your organization has incorporated on or after July 1st, 2016, the maximum allocation is $10,000.

Q: What must be filed in order to register with the Charities Bureau?
A: To register with the Charities Bureau, an organization must submit the following documents:
  1. Form CHAR410 (Registration Statement)
  2. A copy of the organization's certificate of incorporation, trust instrument, constitution or other organizational document.
  3. A copy of the organization's by-laws or other internal rules.
  4. If the organization has applied for tax exemption, a copy of its application for exemption (IRS form 1023 or 1024).
  5. If the organization has received tax exempt status, a copy of the determination letter received from the IRS.
  6. If the organization has been existence for more than a year, a copy of its financial report for the prior year.
  7. If the organization solicits contributions from the public, a $25 registration fee.
Q: What organizations are exempt from registration with the Charities Bureau?
A: Among the organizations exempt from registration are religious organizations (houses of worship) and other charitable organizations run by religious organizations; membership organizations that do not solicit contributions from the public; Parent Teacher Associations; educational institutions that file annual reports with the New York State Department of Education; and governmental agencies. Other organizations are exempt from registration depending on the nature of their activities and whether or not they solicit contributions from the public.

Q: If I'm submitting more than one application, do I need to submit multiple Certificates of Authorization (C of A)?
A: Yes. Each application must have its own C of A. Please note that the C of A must be notarized.
