This Sunday at St Timothy's
|
|
Almighty God, you have poured upon us the new light of your incarnate Word: Grant that this light, enkindled in our hearts, may shine forth in our lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Requiescat in Pace | Sid Lee
|
During this joyful time of Christmas, we are also confronted with sadness. Of your charity, please pray for the repose of Sid Lee, who died on December 28.
A Requiem will be said for Sid on Thursday, January 4 at 2pm in the Church. May we also pray for his parents and siblings, Jeff, Mary, Jack, Georgia, and Katie.

The Church throughout the world is still celebrating the birth of Our Lord and St Timothy's is no different. Tomorrow is the first Sunday after Christmas with celebrations of the Holy Eucharist at 7:30, 9:00, and 11:00am.
I will be preaching on what most people don't know about Christmas. I'll leave you with a teaser - why was it necessary that God come to us in the flesh and why is it necessary that Jesus Christ, the Word Incarnate, be both fully God and fully man?
Continue the Christmas celebration with us and commit to seek God's help in making the new year a holy one.
I hope you will take a moment to look at some of the amazing pictures captured by Robert Matthews and video captured by Beckie McLean of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. It shows the vibrance of our celebration and the vigor of our parish. I am so very grateful to all the volunteers to go above and beyond each and every year. Thank you musicians, acolytes, altar guild, ushers, greeters, office volunteers, chair volunteers, lectors, LEMs, flower guild, and all the rest that in my inadequacy I'm failing to recall. And to our staff, you are wonderful. Thank you.
As this year come to a close, please consider our work with your generosity. Like most churches, we enter December with a deficit and we trust in end of year giving to bring us even. At the time of this writing, I do not know the deficit figure, but I know one certainly exists. You have a couple of days to date that church, or even easier, give
online. I'm also including the pledge information below. I thank you in advance.
With gratitude and love for you and this parish, I am and shall remain
Faithfully yours,
Fr Steve

End of Year Giving | Stocks & Non-Traditional Gifts
|
|
As the Stewardship Campaign comes to a close and we begin to consider the future needs of the church, did you know that St. Timothy's can receive non-traditional gifts from your brokerage and retirement accounts? Often, making these types of gifts offers tax advantages and allows you to accomplish your charitable goals with minimal effort.
With the stock market at an all-time high, you might consider supporting St. Timothy's with a gift of appreciated securities, which allows you to avoid capital gains taxes on the appreciated portion of the stock's value while at the same time deducting the full fair market value.
If you are 70 1/2 or older with an Individual Retirement Account (IRA), you can support St. Timothy's with a qualified charitable distribution directly from your plan administrator to the church without having to count the distribution as income.
If you are interested in supporting St. Timothy's with a non-traditional gift, please consult with your financial advisor first (we aren't qualified to give tax advice) and then communicate with Chris Ervin (336-765-0294 or
chris@sttimothys.ws).

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)
Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"
