LET'S CELEBRATE
WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH                             March 2019
Women's History Month   i n the United States grew out of a week-long celebration of women’s contributions to culture, history and society organized by the school district of Sonoma,  California , in 1978. Presentations were given at dozens of schools, hundreds of students participated in a “Real Woman” essay contest and a parade was held in downtown Santa Rosa. Over time, the celebrations grew into a movement, and ultimately a month-long national observation; The United States has observed it annually throughout the month of March since 1987.

In our observance of Women's History Month, we'd like to share engaging opportunities to celebrate with your friends, family and all the women you love!

7 Ways to Celebrate Women's History Month:

1. Share your story through a creative outlet. Women's stories need to be heard; Submit a piece to your favorite publication, start a blog, or launch a YouTube channel.

2. Watch a documentary about a history-making woman Or Documentaries/Films created by women .

3. Mentor a young woman. Start by checking out your local chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters or find a local school reading program.

4. Donate to your favorite organization that supports women . *hint hint*

5. Stay informed. Read up on reproductive rights, LGBTQ rights, voting rights, and other laws and proposed policy that affect women.

6. Play Monopoly!

7. Continue to uplift the women around you. Because we are stronger when we all work together!

The Winter's Group Inc. - 2019 Grant Cycle opens March 29th
The Winters Group, Inc. will award grants to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that work to break down systemic barriers for marginalized women and youth. Funded programs can include, but are not limited to, organizations that provide the following services:
  • Professional Development
  • Educational Support and Access
  • Empowerment
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Financial Literacy
  • Advocacy and Social justice
