FREDERICKSBURG, VIRGINIA, December 28, 2017 - Central Rappahannock Regional Library (CRRL) Director Martha Hutzel has been awarded the
Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce's 2017
Laurie A. Wideman Enterprising Woman's Award by the Chamber's Network of Enterprising Women (CNEW).
Martha Hutzel was named Director of Central Rappahannock Regional Library on January 1, 2016 following a nationwide search. An employee of the library system since 1988, Hutzel held multiple management positions including Head of Circulation of Porter Branch and Branch Manager of Snow, Porter, and Howell (formerly England Run) Branches. Passionate about libraries and public service, Hutzel has extended her advocacy to the state and national level. She is a past-President of the Virginia Library Association and is a member of both the American Library Association (ALA) and Public Library Association. As an ALA member, Martha is actively involved in the organization's annual National Library Legislative Day (NLLD), having previously served as NLLD Coordinator for Virginia.
Outside of her role as CRRL Director, Hutzel is also a leader in the community. A 2017 graduate of the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Fredericksburg program, she is an active Chamber board member and is a former member of the CNEW Steering Committee. Martha currently serves on the University of Mary Washington's Leadership Colloquium Advisory Board as well as the Rappahannock Goodwill Industries Board of Directors. She is a former member of the North Stafford Rotary Club, having held the positions of Secretary, President-Elect, and President during her membership.
Since becoming Director, Hutzel has raised CRRL's profile, establishing new, dynamic partnerships and actively working to raise awareness that today's libraries are about so much more than books.
