I Said, You Said, She Said: Selecting the Best Point of View for Your Work
Finding the right storytelling voice for a project is essential. How do you decide whether it should it be told by an omniscient narrator, one of your characters, several characters, or even a stand-in for yourself? What do you do when what initially seemed like the best choice starts to feel constraining? Jeff Jackson will discuss how to use point of view effectively so it energizes your work, highlighting some of the rewards and pitfalls offered by different approaches. He'll also share several tricks and techniques for how to bend point of view to your story's specific needs.

The show has eleven authors who will read and talk about their work on a weekly basis from October through December. The initial line-up includes a number of members of the Charlotte Writers Club and authors who have spoken to the club.

CWC Open Mic Night at Mug's Coffee!

CWC and Mug's Coffee are partnering to provide an opportunity for CWC Members to read their work every third Friday of each month from 7pm - 9pm.
This is a great opportunity for our members to share what they've written and gain experience reading in public. This is a necessary skill to promote your writing. The added benefit is being able to network with other writers.

I'd been having a little trouble concentrating on my writing lately, so last month I went to see my phrenologist. After examining me, he asked if I had perhaps been recently banging my head against a wall.
"I have indeed," I said, amazed at his diagnostic skill. "In fact, I do so each evening after watching the news."
"Well," he said, "I think you need to cut back on that. The damage is significant, but reversible. I'm putting you on a strict diet of romantic comedies and cartoons."
After a few weeks on this regimen, I feel much better. I recommend it, but if it doesn't work for you, try padding the walls. DDC
