I write to share more good news! And I write to ask you to make a year-end donation - last call today! - so PortSide is well positioned to leverage that news:

The President of the NYC EDC recently visited and offered us a framework to get the building space promised by the EDC years ago! It's next to our ship MARY A. WHALEN, inside the Pier 11 warehouse. He asked us to do a new business plan, due by July.

This will finally allow PortSide NewYork to make the maritime center that I set out to create years ago. This building space will make PortSide a year-round facility where we can expand programs and become a more powerful asset for our community ashore and afloat.

Check out this PowerPoint for photos of the space and an overview of our goals and history. Get info about how you can get involved here.

I also ask for your support so PortSide can complete a recently-approved hurricane Sandy recovery project. FEMA rules oblige us to raise 10% ($26,000) and complete the $257,000 project by July.

Please support all that with a year-end donation!

You can help PortSide's incredible growth. Look what what we've done since we got our first public-access, long-term home in May 2015!

In the 2.5 years since then, we have grown our education programs and maritime activity, launched the e-museum & community guide Red Hook WaterStories, continued to aid Red Hook resiliency, worked with the training program of the union District Council 9, and more. Plus, we've done HUGE amounts of ship restoration (painting 90% of the ship deck and above plus major woodwork repairs).

Check out more 2017 photos below!

Have a Happy New Year! I hope to see you aboard soon!

Best,
