The State of California Office of Administrative Law has approved an emergency regulation package that establishes procedures t o allow pharmacists to extend beyond use dates (BUDs) for nonsterile compounded preparations as well as procedures for establishing BUDs for sterile compounded preparations. 

The emergency regulation package is in effect through June 19th, 2018 and may be extended for an additional 180 days if needed.

The  International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists (IACP) had  worked last summer with the  California Pharmacists Association  to address these important issues regarding BUDs for nonsterile compounded preparations.
