5th Sunday in Lent

Sermon: Julie Chatfield
UNBREAKABLE: "
Marriage Vows"

Scripture:
Jeremiah 31:31-34

When we hear the word "covenant," our mind might go to land use or building restrictions. But God's intention is something more personal and intimate. Our faith in God is not about getting ourselves to fall in line with a proper way of thinking, or a proper way of doing things. Our covenant with God is not focused on falling in line, but instead is focused on falling in love with the Lord. What God wants is that when someone draws close to us, they can tell that God's ways are written in the depths of our heart, that we intimately know the Lord, and that we illustrate that we are indeed God's people.
Prayer Shawl Ministry Workshop - March 19
Please join us on Monday, March 19th at 1:00 p.m. in the church Choir Room for our next Prayer Shawl workshop.  Anyone who likes to knit or crochet is invited to attend-all skill levels are welcome!  Prayer shawls are given to people who are ill or hospitalized, suffering chronic conditions, undergoing chemotherapy, or simply in need of comfort and prayer.  If you know of someone who would benefit from receiving a shawl, please let us know. For more details, contact Carol Thomson 407-812-7043.
March for Our Lives at Lake Eola - March 24
"I call upon the followers of Jesus to speak for those whose voices are silenced, and to speak for our children and grandchildren. What if, across Florida and even our connection, we were able to collect and send 5000 letters?"
-  Bishop Ken Carter, Florida Annual Conference

5000 Letters is a campaign by United Methodists in the Florida Annual Conference to contact state and federal government officials, urging them to seek legislation that will curb gun violence in this country. Join us in following Bishop Ken Carter's call to speak for those whose voices have been silenced, for the sake of our children and their futures. Follow this link for the Bishop's video.

We will be traveling to downtown Orlando on Saturday, March 24th from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. to join in the "March for Our Lives" national event. We'll be preparing letters in response to our experience at the event. Sign up on the table in the back of the sanctuary. Contact the church office for more information.
Holy Week at Peace - March 25 - April 1
Please make plans to join us during Holy Week (March 25 th through April 1 st ) and steep yourself in the richness of the passion of Christ from his humble entry into Jerusalem, the breaking of bread with his disciples, to his death on the cross and resurrection on Easter Sunday. All ages are welcome. Mark your calendars now!

PALM SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICES- Sunday, March 25th at 8:15 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. - As we celebrate Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, our children will participate in the traditional palm parade. We invite you to bring in palm branches from your home or neighborhood to use during the service.

A HOLY MEAL: RECALLING THE LAST SUPPER- Thursday, March 29th at 6:30 p.m., join us for an interactive dinner remembering Holy Communion.  We begin with a symbolic recalling of Jesus washing his disciples feet. Then during dinner, music and other stories of the Gospel accounts of the Last Supper will be shared.  Finally, we conclude with sharing the bread and cup around the table. Altar prayer time will follow communion.

GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE OF DARKNESS- Friday, March 30th at 7:00 p.m. - Also known as Tenebrae, meaning "darkness," this worship service has been practiced by the church since medieval times. Scripture readings, music and symbols tell the story of Christ's passion. In the darkness of the sanctuary, we ponder the depth of Christ's suffering and sacrificial love for us.

EASTER SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICES- Sunday, April 1st at Sunrise 7:00 a.m., Traditional 8:15 a.m., Contemporary 9:30 a.m., Traditional 11:00 a.m. - Easter is a great time for family, friends, traditions and celebration. We offer four special services with encouraging messages that recall the amazing events of that first Easter. Come enjoy uplifting music, Easter themed activities for the kids and refreshments. You'll have your hope renewed, and your spirit refreshed! Breakfast will be served following the Sunrise service.

Spring Harmony Groups
We all know it's important to be connected, but it's hard to find time to build lasting friendships. Where is community discovered in our hectic 21st century lives? More and more we seem to be orienting our time around "Third Places"-locations like coffee shops, sporting leagues, digital media, entertainment locations and online cultures. We believe that when we get together and have fun with others, we'll grow into a stronger community that serves and grows together as a whole. Harmony Groups aren't meant to replace Christian study opportunities and worship, but instead will offer safe, non-threatening 'entry' points for inviting people into deepening circles of friendship. Join us for one of our upcoming groups:
