A group of eighth graders are pictured at John Deere in Thibodaux for "Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day." The event is a national movement that shows girls how creative and collaborative engineering is and how engineers are changing the world. The planning team at John Deere Thibodaux hosted the event for the third year. The event places girls in small groups with mentors to work together to solve problems, learn more about engineering, and have fun. Attendees were Caroline Bower, Isabella Breaud, Mackenzie Castro, Claire Clement, McKenna Currie, Josie Gravois, Breanna Gros, Elise Kliebert, Emma Miller, Karishma Nathaniel, Kate Paige, Jane Robichaux, Olivia Rodrigue, Elizabeth Rodrigue, and Abigail Shaw.

Winter Season Sports Recaps

Congratulations to the boys soccer varsity team on an outstanding season. The team had a record of 20-5-3 and finished as state runner up. Led by seniors Ayden Duvernay, Collin Toups, Jordan Servat, Race Bourgeois, Brady Theriot, William Lanier, and Grant DeGravelle, the boys leave an awesome legacy of two finals, three semi-finals, four quarterfinals and two district championships.

The E. D. White Girls soccer team had another outstanding year by reaching the semifinals for the 3rd straight year. The Lady Cardinals finished the season with a record of 12-10-4, finishing 2nd in district. The Lady Cardinals defeated Deridder in the Regional round by the score of 5-0. In the quarterfinals the Lady Cards defeated Tuerlings Catholic in very close game of 1-0. In the semifinals the Lady Cardinals fell to Vandebilt.

The varsity boys basketball team entered this season having to replace all five starters off of last year's quarterfinal team.

Injuries during the preseason and season depleted the Cardinals even further, as the youthful Cardinals struggled through the 2017-2018 season.

In spite of the youth and inexperience, the Cardinals battled through a tough schedule, and showed signs of improvement as the season progressed.  Unfortunately, this improvement did not translate into wins on the scoreboard.

The season came to an end in a Regional loss to St. Michael.
What this season did prove is that the future is very encouraging, as most of the players from this year's team will be returning for next year.  They'll not only be a year older, but will have gained valuable experience from their time on the court this season.

The 2017-2018 Lady Cardinal basketball team got off to a roaring start posting an early season 6-2 record. After a rough patch of games, the Lady Cards followed that up by winning 3 of 4 games in a stretch during late December to early January. The Ladies entered district play with a 9-9 record and posted a 2-4 district record. The team finished the regular season with an 11-13 record and the no. 15 seed in the Division II Girls Basketball State Playoffs. The Lady Cardinals defeated Academy of Our Lady in the first round by a 52-38 score. In the Regional round, the Lady Cards traveled to Shreveport to take on the second-seeded Loyola Prep team. The Cards came up short with a 56-30 loss in Shreveport, ending the Lady Cardinal season with a final record of 12-14.

Grandparents Days

Grandparents Day was celebrated on Tuesday, January 30 and Wednesday, January 31. Both days started with breakfast in the Union, which included the famous EDW "Legacy Biscuits" and gave grandparents a chance to mingle with friends. Following breakfast, grandparents then attended a special assembly that included updates on what's happening around campus, a special grandparent video presentation, and a performance by the EDW Jazz band. After the assembly, students took their grandparents on a tour around campus. Along the route, faculty and staff members had photo stations set up where they took pictures to capture the day.
