LifestyleLadies First Partners with Steps to Wellness: Oncology Rehabilitation Program

Ladies First is pleased to partner with the Steps to Wellness Program, offered by the University of Vermont Cancer Center. Studies show that increasing physical activity can help prevent cancer from coming back.

NewWhat is Steps to Wellness?

Steps to Wellness is a free 12-week supervised group exercise program for all cancer survivors regardless of their type of cancer or time since diagnosis.

Ladies First members can now enroll at no cost. The first visit includes a pre-exercise health assessment by a physical therapist and cancer specialist. Members will also receive a start date at that time. Once members enroll in Steps to Wellness, their 12-week supervised group exercise program will take place 2 days per week, with multiple options for days and times. This 24-session program includes cardiovascular, strength, and balance components performed during each visit.

If the member has insurance, the cost of the initial evaluations will be shared by their insurance and Ladies First.  If they do not have insurance, Ladies First can pay for the evaluations. Either way, they pay nothing to participate.

For more information about this program please contact Kerri Frenya, Ladies First Clinical Navigator or Siobhan Donegan, Lifestyle Program Coordinator at 1-800-508-2222. Ladies First is excited to be able to offer this to our members!

GettingProgram Benefits

A cancer diagnosis, and the treatment that follows, can pose powerful challenges to both body and mind. A regular exercise routine strengthens the heart, muscles, and bones, reduces stress and anxiety, and increases energy.

Feeling stronger can restore a sense of trust in one's own body and in its ability to heal and stay healthy.
Many Steps to Wellness participants say that establishing a pattern of regular exercise and other healthy lifestyle behaviors is invigorating and empowering, and has helped them return to the normal routines of daily life.

ProvidersSurvivorship Research
