MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Dear Friends,

In the holiday classic  The Polar Express, young children ride a magical train toward the North Pole. They begin their journey doubting, but gain confidence as they explore friendships and look deep into themselves for true Christmas spirit. During their journey, they discover much about their faith, the true meaning of Christmas, and how "the wonder of life never fades for those who believe."

During this joyous Christmas season and new year, let us rediscover our childhood innocence, rekindling a spirit of wonder and belief. Let us look to the Child for a new light, a belief in God's grace and divine love for us. Let the season find us with a renewed hope in Jesus' coming.

Wishing you and your families tidings of peace and joy!

Connie

ACCEPTED FAMILIES NIGHT

Over sixty accepted students and their families gathered for our second annual Accepted Families Night on December 7th.  With a scavenger hunt led by our hospitality and student council members, the accepted students had their first adventure as a class.  The laughter and thumping footsteps in the halls only added to the positive energy in the parent presentation.  Parents were presented with a deeper insight into the mission of Saint Basil Academy and its focus on "educating the whole person".  Many reveled in the fact that their daughters would be pushed academically, spiritually, socially and individually the next four years.  Teachers, staff, coaches, and parents were all in attendance to offer perspective and answer any questions.  Congratulations again to the Class of 2022!

ODYSSEY PRESENTATION

Our thanks to Dr. Emily Wilson, University of Pennsylvania Professor in the Department of Classical Studies and Chair of the Program in Comparative Literature and Literary Theory for visiting SBA.  Dr.  Wilson spent some time discussing her recently published book, The Odyssey: A New Translation.  Dr Wilson is the first female translator of The Odyssey in the English language.  After her presentation, the floor was opened to questions.  The excitement and interest was evident by the remarks of the students.
