Former MLA Michel Samson appointed to Community Foundation of Nova Scotia board of directors

March 15, 2018 - HALIFAX, N.S.

The Community Foundation of Nova Scotia has welcomed former MLA Michel Samson as its newest board member.
 
Robert Orr, chair of the Community Foundation of Nova Scotia board of directors, officially welcomed Samson at the board of directors' meeting Wednesday. Samson's connection to rural and francophone communities is a tremendous asset to the Community Foundation of Nova Scotia and its mission to build strong, vibrant and diverse communities throughout the province by enabling and inspiring effective philanthropy, says Orr.
 
"We are thrilled to welcome Michel Samson. His new role on the board will support the Community Foundation of Nova Scotia's continued development of philanthropy as a catalyst for economic development in Nova Scotia's rural communities, where its potential is still not fully realized. "
 
A bilingual graduate of Dalhousie Law School, Michel began his law practice in Port Hawkesbury before spending 19 years as a Member of the Nova Scotia Legislature for Cape Breton-Richmond. Michel's cabinet assignments included acting Minister of Justice, Attorney General & Deputy Premier, Minister of Energy, Trade & Acadian Affairs and Francophonie, Minister of Economic and Rural Development & Tourism, Minister of Environment and Government House Leader. Samson currently serves as counsel in the Cox & Palmer Halifax office.
