GREAT GEAR
The Big Muff has long been one of the most ubiquitous fuzz boxes on pedalboards and in the gear market. Throughout a career that has spanned 30-plus years, Trey Anastasio and his band Phish have touched upon a mind-boggling number of genres and blended them into a unique sound. Trey is probably best known for his exploratory flights over a one- or two-chord vamp, but what does he do when more than one scale or arpeggio is needed? Some might think that Trey's improvisational techniques are only relevant to jazz, but they would be wrong. Many rock tracks are prime examples of a soloist playing over changes, and there are plenty of these moments in Phish's music.
