Tigers Recycle!
 Each month we bring you a simple recycling tip to help reduce contamination in the recycling bins on campus.

This month's tip: Plastic lids, straws, and utensils are NOT recyclable! Try to use reusable silverware when eating on campus to reduce waste.

This summer, the Office of Sustainability is offering four paid positions: 
  • One full-time Sustainability Assistant
  • Two part-time summer Garden Project Assistants
  • One part-time Move-In Resale Assistant

EcoReps Host Mend Mondays this Spring!
Is your favorite shirt full of holes? Did you lose a button on your favorite pair of jeans? Have a dress/skirt/pair of pants that needs hemming? Or have you just wanted to try your hand at some creative project that involves sewing machines? If so, come to one of the bi-monthly Mend Mondays on March 26, April 9 and 23, and May 7, from 7pm-10pm in front of the Frist Campus Center GreenSpace.

Mend's Mission is to encourage sustainable attitudes and reduce waste surrounding clothing and fashion through teaching Princeton University community members how to repair, reuse and upcycle clothing, and providing the materials to do so.
Highwire Earth: "Evaluating the Geoengineering Treatment"
Highwire Earth is a publication intended to foster an active interdisciplinary conversation on topics related to sustainable development, stemming from the research and general expertise of the Princeton University community, including students, research staff, faculty, visitors, and alumni. 

In their latest article, "Evaluating the Geoengineering Treatment," Chua Xin Rong, Graduate Student in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, considers the risks and benefits of these schemes through an imagined conversation between a human and an interstellar doctor to the planets.

Tiger Challenge Applications Now Open for Sustainable Food Design Team
What if a suburban town could help create a more sustainable food system? Mayor Lempert and Princeton Municipality were recently announced as a Champion City in Bloomberg Foundation’s Mayors Challenge . They have won $100k in initial funding to test how to design such a food system at a local level.

Tiger Challenge is now accepting applications to join a team designing innovative ways to reduce waste stream contamination in Princeton, NJ, and beyond. The team will kick-off this summer with a full-time, 10-week program. Housing and stipend included. All years, majors, and experience levels are encouraged to apply. Campus Dining Make Food Disposal Changes to Address Sustainability

Campus Dining upgraded food disposal areas in the residential college dining halls during Intersession in order to keep food waste clear of unwanted items, such as napkins and utensils, and to improve the measurement of food waste on campus.

Campus as Lab Corner
Students Explore Ecology Close to Home

Over the course of the fall semester, students in the student-initiated seminar, “Analyzing Ecological Integrity” learned that they don’t need to travel far to conduct meaningful field research. Led by Artemis Eyster ‘19, students evaluated the ecological health of undeveloped natural areas on campus with the goal of providing timely analyses to inform and monitor land-use decisions for the 2026 Campus Plan.

The Princeton Biodigester's Wood Shavings Arrive!
Now that the biodigester has been installed, we are actively working on pulling together the final operational pieces to get the system up and running. The first item to arrive is wood shavings.
