Coming Soon: Blue Eggs
Keep an eye out for blue eggs in your order! These pretty eggs are laid by Ameraucanas, Aurancanas and Cream Legbars. Our blue eggs come from Ameraucanas! The blue color comes from a naturally occuring pigment in these breeds called
oocyanin. Because the pigment appears early in the formation process, the shell is blue through and through.
Want to save a blue egg for display? It's easy! Shake the egg up to "scramble" the yolk and whites, then use a pushpin or needle to poke a hole in the top and the bottom. Holding the egg over a bowl, just blow into the hole to force the yolk and whites out. Let the empty shell air-dry. For further preservation, you can apply a clear varnish or clear nail polish to the outside!
