Temple Emanu-El has two unique and fun opportunities to travel to Israel with Rabbi Dana Magat in the near future.  Each trip is an amazing opportunity to connect to Judaism, your fellow congregants, and more!
Trip One: June 18-29, 2018.  For adults looking to return to Israel and experience the country on a deeper level.
Trip Two: July 4-15, 2018.  For families and first time Israel travelers.
Village House Shelter
Now - Wednesday, January 3
New opportunities to help!  From December 26-January 3 we will now be providing dinners 7 days a week.  We need volunteers to cook dinner for our guests.  Cooking isn't your specialty?  Donate money or restaurant gift cards!  
Village House addresses the needs of up to 15 medically fragile women through the provision of food, shelter, hygiene services, spiritual and part-time case management support.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!  We encourage everyone to donate their time to Temple Emanu-El as we host these women.
Chinese Food and Game Night

Lunch and Learn Torah Study

Food for your body.  Food for your soul.  Need a better way to spend your lunch hour?  Join Rabbi Magat for an informal study and discussion session of our current Torah portion, as we are navigating the Torah in order.  Together we will navigate through traditional interpretations and modern applications of our Torah.  Bring your lunch and be ready to get a new perspective on Torah. Open to members and non-members and no previous Torah study is required.
Temple Emanu-El Holiday Dinner Drive
Help share the joy of holiday meals with others! We are participating in the holiday dinner drive benefiting the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.  Donate online here.  You may also donate by mailing a check to 1010 University Ave., San Jose, CA 95126 made out to Second Harvest Food Bank with "Holiday Dinner Drive" in the memo line.
Shabbatluck Dinner

Everyone is welcome to join our congregational family for a Shabbatluck Dinner. These potluck dinners take place throughout the religious school year on the first Friday of each month before the Erev Shabbat Family Service.
On January 5, our family service will led by our Youth Group.
Meet and schmooze with these students, their families, and our congregation during a friendly potluck dinner and stay for a delightful Shabbat service.
Please bring a dish to share. The following designations are based in the first letter of your last name:
A-L: Side dish, salad, fruit M-Z: Main Dish

Erev EESY Shabbat Family Service
Friday, January 5 at 7:00 PM
The first Friday of the month during the school year, services begin at 7:00 PM in the sanctuary. This service includes the participation of and leadership from our EESY Youth Group. We're proud of our students and their participation and leadership in our service.  This service will include song leader Toby Pechner.  Toby has years of experience leading Jewish music at camps, schools, and youth groups.  Most Family Services are preceded by a congregational Shabbatluck potluck dinner.  We hope you share in this delightful Shabbat service with us.

Once again, Temple Emanu-El is partnering with Jewish Family Services of Silicon Valley to fulfill the Chanukah holiday wishes of families and seniors who would otherwise go without gifts. Stop by and pick up a wish card, return your gift and dreidel tag to JFS by January 1, and put a large smile on someone's face!
