NEWLY ANNOUNCED
Hot Teen Read!
Natasha Ngan
Tuesday, November 13, 7:00 pm
For 15+

Each year, the Demon King choses eight Paper Girls to be concubines. It's the highest honor they could hope for and the most demeaning. This year, there's a ninth. And instead of paper, she's made of fire.

In the face of sexual violence, these fierce young women fight to control their own story. This mesmerizing diverse fantasy by debut author Ngan will leave you breathless!

"Ngan's plot is tense and tight, her action sequences are elegant and adrenaline-soaked, and her story's stakes increase exponentially through the pulse-pounding conclusion. What most distinguishes this book, though, is how incisively and intoxicatingly Ngan writes about love."

INTRODUCING OUR NEWEST
KIDS/TEENS DEPARTMENT TEAM MEMBER

When Kalee was a kid, every time she would enter a library or bookstore, she would whisper to her parents, "I want to live here someday." Since a young age, she has been a voracious reader, reading everything from mysteries to fantasies to biographies to graphic novels, using every spare moment to find out "what happens next." Working in the children's department of Quail Ridge Books has given her the opportunity she has dreamed of-- to be a part of a community that truly values the excitement of words and stories.

Kalee graduated from UNC Asheville in May 2018, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics and Creative Writing. She hopes to use her love and knowledge of both written and visual arts to share the magic of books and illustrations with others, and to help inspire the imaginations and curiosity of the next generation of young readers.
