A LETTER TO PARENTS
In the Clear Creek Independent School District, we are committed to providing each child a safe and nurturing learning environment free of harassment. In light of national events and the heightened awareness about sexual harassment, I wanted to take this opportunity to share important information with our parents and students about the measures the school district has in place in the event a student or an adult is the victim of, or a witness to, harassment of any kind.

Sexual harassment of a student includes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, or sexually motivated physical, verbal, or nonverbal behavior by another student. Examples of sexual harassment of a student may include sexual advances, jokes or conversations of a sexual nature, and other sexually motivated conduct, communications or contact by another student or an adult.

Clear Creek ISD employees shall conduct themselves in the professional manner you would expect from your school district. District employees will not engage in conduct or communication of a sexual nature with students. Romantic or inappropriate social relationships between students and employees are strictly prohibited, even if considered consensual.

Any student who believes he or she has experienced harassment of any kind by another student or staff member should immediately report it to a teacher, school counselor, principal, other CCISD employee, or the Clear Creek Independent School District's Title IX Coordinator.

Title IX Coordinator
Leila Sarmecanic, Policy and Legal Affairs
2425 East Main, League City, TX 77573
Telephone: (281) 284-0013

For your convenience, I have included our local policy regarding sexual harassment. If you have any questions regarding this letter, please do not hesitate to contact your school principal or Ms. Sarmecanic.

Best Regards,

Greg Smith, Ph.D.

DECEMBER BOARD REPORT
Heroes in the Hallway

Clear Horizons Early College High School students and staff were recognized for  giving back to their community.  These students will have completed more than 37,000 service hours over four years.  The Class of 2018 is focused on restoring prairie marshes at the Armand Bayou Nature Center.

Item of Interest

The Clear Creek ISD Board of Trustees approved the 2018-2019 academic calendar during the regular meeting on December 18, 2017. After taking into account input from individual Campus Instruction Improvement Committee votes as well as input tallied from the CCISD website, the DEIC recommended Calendar 2. In the end, Superintendent Dr. Greg Smith made a formal recommendation to the school board for Calendar 3, which was the popular vote among individual staff and community members who participated in the voting process. The board approved this version during the meeting. Calendar 3 allows the district additional days in August to complete scheduled bond construction projects. It also provides some room between projected state, exams, and advanced placement considerations.
