Entire City of Fredericksburg to remain in HUBZone program

The entire City of Fredericksburg will remain in the federal HUBZone program until 2020, and potentially longer.

Generous donation to help facilitate new park off Fall Hill
 
This week's edition of the "Freehling Finds" video series highlights a recent donation to the City that will eventually help facilitate a new park off Fall Hill Avenue.

Arts & Cultural District incentive applications due

If you have a business in Fredericksburg's Arts and Cultural District that's an arts or cultural business or hosts year-round rotating art exhibits, don't forget to get your 2018 Arts and Cultural District Incentive Application in ASAP. See below for more information about the program and an application.  
New leadership for UMW Museums

Scott Harris, currently director of the James Monroe Museum, has been named Executive Director of University Museums. In his new role, Scott will provide strategic direction and will oversee all aspects of the Gari Melchers Home and Studio and the James Monroe Museum. Congratulations Scott!

Billiken's Smokehouse now up and running downtown

Billiken's Smokehouse at The Chimneys, located at 623 Caroline St., is the second location for Greg and Sharon Shalawylo, who've owned Billiken's BBQ Company in Mineral since 2010.
Cox rolls out high-speed residential Internet service

Cox officials announced last week that "G1gablast" -- super high-speed internet service -- is now available for certain Fredericksburg residential customers.

Highpoint Coffee is now Katora Coffee

The coffee shop at 615 Caroline St. in downtown Fredericksburg recently got new owners and a new name. A coffee-roasting tutorial is planned this evening at the shop.

Virginia Partners Bank making investment

Fredericksburg-based Virginia Partners Bank will acquire a 51 percent stake in Newport News-based Johnson Mortgage Company, with the transaction effective January 1.

Aspetto featured on Fox 5
