Season's Greetings!

As the year closes, I would like to take this opportunity to recognize a few members of the Escondido Board of Directors.

This past September, board members  Dan Meyer Escondido Disposal Inc. and  Joe Coyle , Printer Repair Depot managed our very successful 19th Annual Chamber Challenge Golf Tournament . Due to the success of this event, the chamber was able to grant the Police Athletic League (PAL) with a sizable check which was accepted by retired Lieutenant Al Owens at the  7th Annual Community in Unity  holiday celebration December 7th. PAL volunteers work with Escondido's youth, providing a positive connection with our police department through sports activities.

Board member  Mona Durney Rancho Computer Networks Inc. was recognized on stage for her contributions for the ongoing success of Carols  by Candlelight, a fabulous Christmas concert celebrating 27 years of support for the Rady Children's Hospital. The concert venue was the  California Center for the Arts, Escondido , Escondido where board member Jerry Vanleeuwen  is the Executive Director.

Like many of you, I love this time of year and wish to share a favorite passage with you:

If you have a place to go, you have a home
If you have someone to share with, you have family
And if you have both, you are truly blessed.

From all of us at the Escondido Chamber of Commerce, we wish you a joyful holiday season and a new year of health, happiness, and success.

Kevin S. Svetich, CLU
Chairman of the Board

CCAE

The California Center for the Arts, Escondido is just $12,000 shy of meeting the $50,000 Linden Root matching grant goal. One great way to give to the arts is through an annual membership, for as little as $5.00 a month for an individual. As a member you get first announcements of newly booked shows, which means the best seats in the house go to the CCAE members! Check out artcenter.org today.

Numerous Central School third grade students smile and scream with excitement when told that they will all be receiving free bicycles thanks to a generous donor.
Central Elementary School students are delighted by a
major  surprise made possible by generous donors

On December 6, 93 lucky Central Elementary students received  new bicycles  thanks to the generosity of the Bikes for Kids Foundation and Escondido Sunrise Rotary!  The third grade students participated in an essay writing contest, and they thought that just a few of them would win and receive bikes. However, much to their surprise,  all 93  of them were given bikes during the recognition ceremony - and their enthusiastic reactions were priceless!
