SENIOR SPOTLIGHT

Nahome T.

Nahome has already been admitted to six 4-year colleges. Way to go Nahome!

1. What are your college plans?
"I would like to study physical therapy or business and I hope to go to Towson University!"

2. What part of college are you looking forward to the most?
"I'm excited to be on my own and see how I do with the freedom. As a Freshman, I did not take school very seriously. I took school more seriously senior year and now that I have that experience I will make sure I am on the right track and do all of my work in college!"

3. What extracurricular activities have you been involved in?
"I am currently playing Varsity Basketball at Wheaton. I've also played soccer and ran track."

4. Nahome's advice for Juniors in CollegeTracks:
"It is a lot of hard word and there is a lot to the college application process so don't procrastinate and do all of your work!"

Searching & Applying for Scholarships!!

Scholarships are FREE MONEY for you to attend college. There are tons of scholarship opportunities and you should apply for them to reduce the amount of money that you and your family will have to pay for your college education.

Click here for the CollegeTracks Scholarship Packet!

There are two main sources of scholarships:
  • Scholarships from colleges: Many colleges offer scholarships based on merit (such as a high GPA or strong test scores), financial need, or athletic ability. Check your college's financial aid websites for information on scholarship opportunities, eligibility, requirements, and applications.
  • Scholarships from private or outside organizations:
Private groups offer money for different reasons, including community involvement, service experience, ethnicity and location. Pick up a CollegeTracks Scholarship Packet for a list of scholarships for which you are eligible!

Similar to college applications, scholarship applications may require that you complete application forms, write an essay, ask for letters of recommendation, and submit additional materials.  Know your deadlines and plan ahead so you submit your applications on time.
