Congratulations to this week's Heroes Ashlee and Amy! We hope you enjoy your up-close parking spot.
A Note to Ashlee Cowell, Admissions Director
Ashlee Cowell takes the extra time to welcome every "stranger" who comes into our midst like Jesus - with open loving arms, listening ears and unwavering kindness. She goes above and beyond for MCS every day. Ashlee is patient and spends hours with prospective families to make sure they have the best experience possible - even if she doesn't feel well, or has had 30 people interrupting her all day, she treats everyone with love and respect. What an amazing ambassador for MCS Ashlee is - an everyday Hero and MCS Blessing! Thank you for shining your beautiful light for God every day!!
Ashlee Cowell: She weathers office displacement, withdraws, tour walk ins, parent interruptions and many other random hiccups in her day with grace and kindness. In the midst of all of it, she is quick to offer her help to co-workers (and cupcakes!).
A Note to Amy Green, 6th Grade History Teacher:
Amy Green is my hero! She should win the award for Rookie of the Year. I'm so impressed by the way she confidently stepped right into her role as a new teacher her first year. She taught like she'd been teaching for years. She is dedicated, responsible, creative, willing to take risks, INSANELY ORGANIZED, and fun-ny!!! Most importantly, she loves Jesus and loves her half babies. She mentors and encourages them so well. She really gets junior highers, and they love her for it. She goes to all their games, musicals, concerts, even if it means giving up weekend time. It's obvious that she's committed to excellence and takes her role as a difference maker seriously.

It was great seeing so many of you on Thursday to hear about our LIONS' Pact program. If you missed the meeting, please enjoy the enclosed slideshow that we presented at the meeting.
Feel free to contact your child's teacher if you have any questions about the program.
The mission of LIONS' Pact is to implement a school wide program where teachers, parents, and students can build a school culture that honors God through inclusivity, peer respect, and compassion. The goal is for students to practice and learn conflict resolution and social negotiation skills, understand the difference between peer conflict and bullying, and practice forgiveness as we live out our faith and seek God's wisdom. We are dedicated to working together as a community to create a school culture where students agree to live by the LIONS' Pact (Listen, Include, Ownership, Notice, and Support).

Mrs. Harrison, our Middle School Principal, presented a chapel on trust to our 1st-5th graders. Using two object lessons involving water, she explained what God had been teaching her about trusting Him, even when things don't make sense. Just like the science experiments seemed like they would get the four volunteers wet, we can't always understand how things work, but we know the God who does!
Her prayer over the students was the verse in I Chronicles 16:11 -
"Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face ALWAYS."
Ask your 1st-5th grader to describe one of the water illustrations!

Middle School March 20th Share 2 Wear Day (Book Drive)
In honor of
Dr. Seuss' birthday month, Middle School is holding a
1-day Book Drive for our March
Share2Wear. All students who participate in our
Share2Wear on
Tuesday, March 20th, must bring at least 1 new or gently used book to "share" with an underprivileged community. Students are highly encouraged to bring more than one book to donate, if they have access to books they no longer use. These books will be shared among our local communities and, if we get a great response, we will also be able to send some to communities in parts of Texas who lost everything due to the recent hurricane.
Any student who "shares" at least 1 book, will be able to "wear" attire
based on the theme that his/her U-Group selected! Students will eat lunch within their U-Groups next Thursday to collaborate and decide a dress day theme unique to their group! Then, on our Share2Wear day, 3/20, students will come to school in their U-Group selected theme and contribute their book(s) to the 1-day Book Drive! Our goal is to bring the joy of stories, adventure, and knowledge to those with limited access to books for any variety of reasons.
Please join us in our cause to make a difference in our community!
