Dana Lee Harris Named Acting Executive Director of British Columbia Hospitality Foundation
[Vancouver, BC]: The British Columbia Hospitality Foundation (BCHF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dana Lee Harris as Acting Executive Director. She replaces Rowena Veylan, who ended her term with the Foundation earlier this month. Dana, a BCHF Board member who currently acts as vice chair, has relinquished that position to assume this important role. She will be supported by Lucy Cayuela, who has been promoted to the position of Business Administrator, as well as the members of Dana's consulting team: Karen Madsen, Megan Fahr, Judy Arcand, and Viona Falk.

In 2017 the BCHF implemented systems and processes aimed at creating efficiency that will allow the Board and team to focus on fundraising as a top priority. This year alone, the Foundation helped more than 30 beneficiaries, granting a total of over $115,000 in assistance. In addition, the organization plans to award 17 scholarships over the coming months.

"Our focus has always been to help as many people in our industry as we can, and we are in a very strong position to carry on that important work," notes BCHF chair Christine Coletta. "I have known and worked with Dana since the mid-1980s and she is a trusted and valued friend and work associate. Her understanding of our industry, its needs, and the needs of the people we serve will help us open doors quickly and increase our family of supporters. I am very excited at the prospect of working with her to achieve the Foundation's goals." A longtime supporter of the organization's work, Dana adds, "I honestly love what the BCHF does for the industry, and they have given me so much. We have a strong Board, and it was hard to step down, but I felt it was more important to do so in order to keep the BCHF moving forward."

In the new year, the BCHF, Tourism Vancouver's charity of choice, will be the beneficiary of Dine Out Vancouver's Grand Tasting. Held on January 19th at the legendary Orpheum Theatre, the event will kick off the festival's 16th year with a culinary evening featuring VQA wines, local distilleries and craft breweries along with 12 restaurants and caterers.
