Every child who needs a mentor should have a mentor.

Kicking Off 2018

As the final month of 2017 comes to a close, VMP staff and partners have been working hard to set the stage for exciting programming and awareness efforts in the new year.

Next year marks VMP's
25 year anniversary. Throughout our anniversary year, we will be celebrating stories of successful program partners, inspiring matches, and champions of mentoring throughout VMP's history, while also continuing to look forward and engage potential mentors, program partners, and community stakeholders. We have been grateful to partner with pro bono teams at Capital One and Altria CreateAThon to refresh VMP's communications materials, messaging, and marketing and awareness strategies in preparation for leveraging our milestone year.

In just a couple short weeks, January will kick off  National Mentoring Month - a strategic burst of public awareness to recognize and promote the importance and benefits of mentoring. VMP is beginning the milestone year on a high note by engaging partners and stakeholders in programming opportunities. If you're curious about what we do, we invite you to attend one of our January free trainings or sit in on a regional convening meeting . Please join us in celebrating and connecting! Follow us throughout the month on facebook and instagram and share your stories!

Welcome to the VMP Team

She brings a background of teaching, human resources, fundraising and volunteer engagement, and is ready to work together to take VMP to the next level.

"I am thrilled to join VMP's leadership team with the shared goal of achieving extraordinary results in the field of mentoring as we journey on a quest for community engagement and support throughout Virginia.  I believe mentoring is a life changing experience benefiting young people, adults, workplaces and our communities."

Moving Mentoring Forward

Last month, VMP kicked off our year-end  "Moving Mentoring Forward" Campaign , which will support continued efforts to promote quality mentoring relationships within Virginia communities.
  • We want to move kids off of waiting lists in our partner programs by inspiring volunteers to get involved as mentors.
  • We want to move youth mentoring to be a top priority for community leaders and to recognize quality mentoring as an important intervention for kids that help them to succeed in school, meet their goals, and prepare for college and the workforce.
  • We want to move VMP into the spotlight and prepare to celebrate our 25th anniversary in 2018, and honor the work of our mentors and program partners!
We are grateful to our many friends and supporters who have already contributed to get VMP to 40% of our goal! Help us succeed in our final push -  Please consider making your year-end, tax deductible contribution   as part of our "Moving Mentoring Forward" campaign. As you may know, VMP is a small nonprofit with a large reach, and we rely on grants from corporations and foundations, and gifts from donors and supporters to provide our services.
