Winter Showcase and Inspiration Concert Call Times
Our Winter Showcase and Inspiration Concert is THIS Sunday, March 11 at
Poway Center for the Performing Arts

There will be regular rehearsals on Saturday, March 10, but no rehearsals on Sunday, March 11. We encourage all students to attend the concert.
Participation at the concert is required by all performers. There will be dress rehearsals prior to the concert, and as a reminder, any musician who misses the dress rehearsal will forfeit
participation in the concert. Students should arrive to their dress rehearsal in concert attire. All students are expected to attend the entire concert, out of respect for their fellow musicians. Additionally, we are guests at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts. As representatives of SDYS, musicians are expected t
o act respectfully with no cell phone usage during the dress rehearsal and concert.

The 91st Annual Thursday Club Rummage Sale will take place on Saturday, March 10th from 9 AM to 4 PM at the Balboa Park Activity Center. Proceeds will help SDYS achieve its mission!

Seeking Guest Performers for Friday mornings in Balboa Park
Would you like to be a guest performer for young children? SDYS is seeking
3 Conservatory musicians to be featured on a Friday morning
Baby and Me Music Class in Balboa Park. Be a guest performer for 0-4 year olds and their caregivers, playing a piece of music of your choice as well as a classic kid favorite: Itsy Bitsy Spider? Wheels on the Bus?
Guest performers needed on
March 9, 16, and 23 from 10:45am-12:15pm.
This opportunity is particularly great during Spring Break or for students who are home-schooled, and can be counted for community service hours.

Colin Gazaui,
Wind Symphony - Oboe, was invited by the Royal Conservatory of Music to perform an oboe solo on January 13th, 2018 held at the Newman Recital Hall on the University of Southern California. He received the highest performance score in the country for Level 6 oboe which earned him a gold medal.

Concerto Orchestra - Violin, was accepted to the Advanced Strings Program at Interlochen Arts Camp this summer. She also received a merit scholarship. Kudos, Lilian!

Sphinx Performance Academy 2018 Summer Program
The Sphinx Performance Academy (SPA) is thrilled to partner with the Curtis Institute of Music and the Cleveland Institute of Music for its 2018 summer programming. SPA is a full-scholarship, intensive chamber music and solo performance program designed for aspiring Black and Latino string players, ages 11-17.
