Spring Break is March 12 - 19
School will resume  Tuesday, March 20
Headmaster Note:

Dear Parents,
What an amazing week for community! Saturday we hosted the annual SpringFest, Tuesday and Wednesday the seniors headed to Washington DC, and today teachers and students have come together for Athletic Field Day.

The SpringFest was held on Arete campus for the first time. It provided many opportunities to build relationships and community through competitive runs, hand-made obstacle courses, wonderful food, and dunk tanks. Thank you to the juniors and junior parents who made the SpringFest such a memorable event. Special thanks to: Ms. Jagoda, Ms. Mayor, Ms. Fish, Ms. Mourad, Ms. Weir, Ms. Dees, Mr. Macias, Ms. Driscoll and Ms. Bell who headed the committee. I am already looking forward to next year!

The seniors are enjoying their second day in DC. On Tuesday at noon, we were informed that the flights to DC had been canceled. There was a mad scramble evaluating a wide range of options to make sure our seniors did not miss their trip. With the amazing support of John and Michele Wilson, we were able to find and book 62 flights with less than 24 hours notice. Thank you to Mr. Jordan and Ms. Carmer who flew out Tuesday night at midnight with 30 seniors as well as those seniors and their families for being flexible. Also, thank you to Mr. Wilson, Mrs. Wilson,  Ms. Pati, Mr. Stokes, Mr. Vaughan, Ms. Carmer, Ms. Chin, Ms. Kronwald and Ms. Harris- who all stopped what they were doing to coordinate, plan, and communicate this change.

Today, students 6th -11th grade came together in the auditorium to watch  Oedipus Rex performed by 11C. Then, they broke up into teams to work on posters and get to know each other. In those teams, students competed in relay tic-tac-toe, volleyball, kickball, dodgeball and field hockey. It is so wonderful to see our older students interact with the younger ones in such a positive way.
As we approach Spring Break, I am reminded how grateful I am for a community that comes together, both in a time of need as well as to have fun and play games.

Gratefully,
