U.S.-based Virgin Hyperloop has signed a framework agreement with the Maharashtra government to build a high-speed hyperloop transportation system between Mumbai and Pune with an operational demonstration track. Virgin says the hyperloop will cut travel time between the two cities from three hours to 14-25 minutes and would be able to support 150 million trips per year.

Amazon has launched its long-awaited Prime Music streaming service in India, where it will compete with established rivals such as Saavn, Gaana, Google Play and others. For about $15 per year, Amazon Prime Music offers content in a number of languages, including Hindi, English, Marathi, Malayalam, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Gujarati and Rajasthani.

A Woman Takes Center Stage for India's Tech Industry
 

In a sign of changing times, the organization that champions India's $167 billion information technology services industry will soon get its first female head. Intel Corp. veteran Debjani Ghosh takes over as president of the National Association of Software and Services Companies in April. Ghosh was most recently the chip-making giant's managing director for South Asia. "We have to check talented, capable women dropping out," Ghosh said recently. "The pipeline is clearly not the problem since engineering colleges have seen gender parity in enrollments for years."

All-India Tiger Count to be Hi-Tech, More Accurate
 

The 2018 All-India Tiger Estimation, the quadrennial count of tigers in India, will be more high-tech, accurate and precise than ever before, the Government said. More than 15,000 cameras will be employed nationwide and data will be collected and analyzed on an Android phone application.
