Principal Notes March 8, 2018

Dear Families,
Today we are at the midpoint of Lent. Everyday Dr. Kathleen Cepelka, our Superintendent of Catholic Schools, sends the principal's a Lenten reflection. I thought I would share one with you.
"Peter approached Jesus and asked Him, 'Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive him? As many as seven times?' Jesus answered, 'Not seven times, but seventy times seven times.'" Matthew 18: 21 - 22
What can be harder than letting go of a grudge, an experience of diminishment, or
a personal injustice-perceived or real? Hardly a day passes, with students, parents, or co-workers,
when we're not tempted to remember and revive past wrongs. We pray today for hearts
of limitless forgiveness and memories that do not linger over hurts. We pray to see our own hearts and the hearts of others with God's eyes.
The event we all have been waiting for, " Moonlight in Mexico" is this weekend. The gym will be transformed into a magical evening for you. You have been so generous with your contributions. Please go to the website and start bidding on your favorite items today.
Congratulations to the 8
th
girls for their win over St. Monica in the Padre Serra Tournament last weekend. Come out and cheer on the girls for their next game. They are playing at 1:15 on Saturday against St. Charles at Mount Mary University.
Grades 3

On Monday, Fr. Peter visited the 3rd graders to talk to them about relics. He explained that a first class relic is from the person, like an actual bone/fragment or hair. He had relics from several saints, including St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Ignatius of Loyola. The students had an opportunity to get a closer look at them. What a great learning experience! We are so blessed to have a pastor like Fr. Peter. Thank you Fr. Peter for your time and dedication to our school!
And with that you will find a few things that are
Positively SMV!

Track & Field News
Although it doesn't look like it now, spring will soon be upon us and that means the start of track and field season.
Please mark your calendars with these important dates:
Thursday, March 15th at 7pm ~ Parents meeting in the SMV gym
Tuesday, April 10th 5:30-7pm ~ 1st practice at Brookfield East
Practices will run on T/Th evenings from 5:30-7 from the 10th of April through the end of May.
All parents of 5th through 8th graders should have received an e-mail inquiring about their child's interest in participating in track. Please respond to this e-mail as it is used to gauge interest and help us determine how many athletes we will have for the upcoming season.
Finally, we are looking for new coaches to assist with the track program. No track experience is necessary, just a desire to help our kids achieve their best and have fun. If you are interested in coaching, please e-mail Paul Schmidt at
pauls@connectwi.com.
We look forward to seeing you on March 15th.
