Ice fishing

It's an ice fisher's dream: a massive ice fishing village housing thousands of portable and permanent huts; the possibility of catching the famous Jumbo Perch. This is Lake Simcoe and Lake Scugog every winter. The brave anglers who face the cold for the perfect catch are duly rewarded when they bring up a massive perch from the lake, or a Steelhead from Durham's creeks.

With the ice fishing season poised to open this month, be sure to check out the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry website for official season dates, as well as ice fishing rules and regulations. Visit durhamtourism.ca and check out our Durham Region Fishing Map for an overview of fishing in the region.   Remember to exercise caution and safety while on the ice.
