Local Author Stephen MacKenzie (rescheduled)
Adam Routhier was a handsome young man, a good athlete, and smarter than he appeared. He was charming, sensitive and funny. Adam died in September 2004, three months after graduation from high school. Learn about this special teen from his teacher Stephen MacKenzie, author of "
Adam : a story of Life and Death and Love
" on
Monday, January 8 at 7pm.
Copies of the book will be for sale.
This program was rescheduled from December because of a snow storm.

Friends of the Library Cultural Event
The Friends of the Dover Public Library are delighted to present the one-man show, "A Search for Justice", featuring actor Stephen Collins, on
Tuesday, January 16, at 7pm.
In this performance piece, the audience will hear the words of Abolitionist editor William Lloyd Garrison, and John Brown will tell you why he resorted to violence. Abraham Lincoln will deliver his oration at Gettysburg, and Thomas Hardy and other writers will comment on war and religion.
This is the first of three shows Stephen Collins will present at the Dover Public Library: in May 2018 he will perform as the poet Walt Whitman and in November as the renowned American artist James McNeill Whistler.

Teen Trivia Night for kids in grades 7 - 12 will take place on
Friday, January 19 at 6:30pm
for some after hours fun. Come as a team or come solo and be added to a team. We will be using the Kahoot! software so you may bring a device of your own or borrow one of our chromebooks. We will meet every Thursday from 4:30pm to 5:30pm in the Lecture Hall of the Library. Open to the general public. Spend your Thursday evenings learning how to
detect fingerprints,
reveal secret messages,
conduct a mystery powder analysis,

xtract DNA from substances,

Film and Discussion on Education
Local educator and The Penn founder
Andrew Lapham Fersch will present a film about his alternative education cooperative and will then lead a discussion about the current state of education in America on
Tuesday, January 30 at 6:30pm

The Penn is for students aged 14-21 and focuses on
community and social engagement, experiential education, and choice in learning. The program offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in real-world issues, create your own course of study, go on extended experiential adventures (like backpacking and biking trips).
