Dear Friends,

This time every year we think of those we love and reflect upon the happenings of the past year. There can be no doubt that 2017 has been difficult f or the world. Conflicts displaced millions from their homes.

HOW WE CREATE PEACE ON EARTH

There are signs of hope and positive change brewing everywhere.

Communities were pushed into famine and chaos. Even in our US, thousands lost their homes by hurricanes and wildfires. There is an ever widening gulf between the haves and have-nots, while the ideological divide grows deeper and more irreconcilable. And once again our LGBTQ community's hard earned liberties are threatened.

Even so, I firmly believe there are signs of hope and positive change brewing everywhere. As a result of the political climate, we are forcing ourselves to be more aware and informed than I can remember. We learn to filter out fake news and crazy theories. We connect dots, and with that we claim our power.  We now see the vision of possibilities. I am so proud of our community, as we resist attacks, offer solutions, and come together.

Our work at Rainbow World Fund continues to build bridges between our LGBTQ community and the world, simply by helping those in need around the world.  This year that included the peoples of Cuba, Mexico, California, Puerto Rico, Central America, Iraq, Syria, and Uganda. This is our formula for how to bring about change. We are one human family. This is why we can be hopeful.

First of all we need your belief that this works.  Then we need donations, volunteers, word of mouth, and yes, more donations.  This is our 17th anniversary, and our organization stands proud for our work, our approach, and our contribution toward a safer, more just world..

By getting this newsletter, you are of The Rainbow World Fund community.  As such, join me in wishing love and good will around the world.

We will learned about Cuban history, from its colonial past to its revolutionary present, plus how the complex historical relationship between the U.S and Cuba remains ever-changing.  The many highlights include participating in the LGBTQ Pride celebration in Havana.
