Summer is just around the corner and if you aren't already feeling workforce pressure, you will be. Anyone with skills is already employed, so don't expect to find them hanging out on the couch. We need you to play a role in building the next generation of construction workforce with us. Through our many partnerships and programs we can help you identify talent, train that talent and even reduce your risk by subsidizing wages. WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
We are happy and proud to announce a new partnership between our good friends at JOIN, Inc. and the Eddy House in Reno. If you don't know, Eddy House serves approximately 750 homeless youth in the Reno area. This unique partnership will provide High School Equivalency classes and job training with the goal of getting these young people off the streets, into a job and a better life, breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty. We are looking to our members to join us in these efforts by taking a participant for a work-based learning experience in your company. In doing so, JOIN will subsidize the candidate's wages up to 100% for up to 12 weeks. The hope is that the individual will turn into a valued employee that you want to keep; but there
is no obligation and JOIN will work with you every step of the way. Please consider getting involved in this amazing opportunity. We can't do it without you!
Interested in becoming a mentor? A local Reno elementary school is lookin

Struck-By Injuries
Construction sites are not static environments, always busy and changing throughout the day. One of the greatest dangers to workers in these environments are 'Struck-By' injuries. OSHA has recognized this issue and requires 'Struck-By' injury awareness during the OSHA 10- and 30-hour courses. Workers can be struck-by heavy equipment and vehicles, falling or flying objects, and masonry or concrete walls under construction. To help prevent these injuries, PGM Safety Services, an affiliate of Pro Group Management, offers several tips to help avoid on-the-job injuries.
- Always wear a seat belt when operating equipment and vehicles.
- Drive slowly on construction sites and follow safe operating procedures.
- Don't operate vehicles or equipment if you can't see behind you while backing up. In these situations, make sure the vehicle or equipment has a working audible back-up alarm, as well as a visual alarm the workers can see before moving.
- Inspect all vehicles and equipment prior to the start of operations. Be sure the brakes are in good working condition and chock the tires when stopped on an incline.
- Wear the proper personal protective equipment, including high-visibility clothing
Falling and flying objects are also a 'Struck-By' concern. Falling objects from scaffolding, cranes, and overhead work can be avoided with proper clear zone designations and proper protective gear. Hard hats and safety glasses have proven to reduce injuries in these types of situations.
