Dear Winnetka Public Schools Community,

I would like to invite you to attend a Future Ready D36 Special Board Meeting on March 12 at 7:00 p.m. at Carleton Washburne School . At this meeting, the Future Ready D36 Core Team, a group comprised of parents, D36 staff, and community members, will present initial Educational Master Facility Plan models for School Board review. These models, the product of months of research on best practices in education, will range from some change to transformational change in our schools. The Core Team is dedicated to refining these models this spring to eventually land on a solution that brings value, demonstrates good stewardship, and advances our core mission and vision. You will be invited to share feedback immediately following the March 12 meeting via a survey.

As a community, it is important we hold ourselves to a standard that will inspire our children and instill hope and confidence as we engage in discourse, problem-solving, and decision-making.  Our Village is addressing a variety of community initiatives. Each of these issues requires a great deal of community involvement and thinking to achieve the best possible solution. I challenge us to take the bold steps of modeling the behaviors and strategies we would be proud to instill in our children. I hope that we will foster civility and kindness as we work together for thoughtful solutions for the challenges we face in our community...and on a greater scale, when we engage with those in the world around us.

I look forward to welcoming you to our Special Board Meeting on March 12. Please note that if you are not able to attend this meeting, it will be recorded and included on the Future Ready D36 page on www.winnetka36.org . Additionally, please save the date for further engagement at these upcoming follow-up sessions:

Friday, March 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at The Skokie School
Thursday, March 22 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Greeley School

Over the spring, there will be ongoing revisions to the proposed models based on our community's feedback. It is anticipated that the Board will approve a master plan in June 2018. Thank you for your continued involvement in the Future Ready D36 process...it is exciting to be collaborating with you on determining a long-term plan that will benefit the children of Winnetka for many years to come.

Sincerely,

Dr. Trisha Kocanda
