Living Large in the Green Mountain State
We love hearing from our alumni, and we recently caught up with Jason Leuck, Vermont class of 2013.
Since graduation, Leuck has made his home in Vermont with his wife Fay and their dog. When not at his job as a pharmacy manager at Costco, Leuck spends his time skateboarding, paddle boarding, snowboarding, and traveling.
Those activities were unexpectedly halted last December when Leuck suffered a serious snowboarding accident. The severity of his injuries did not dissuade him from wanting to get back out on the slopes. "It was a tough road, but I had a goal. I wanted to ride down the mountain again, and I did."
Read Leuck's full story in the winter 2017 issue of the
Alumni News
magazine next month.

Pieces of History
|
|
Rudolph H. Blythe, class of 1931, is best known for his invention of time release capsules. He was also nominated for a Nobel Prize, founded the Pharmaceutical Research division of SmithKline & French, and established the Rudolph and Dorothy Blythe Research Fund at ACPHS in 2000 with a gift of $1 million.
Blythe passed away in 2005 at the age of 95, and recently his son, George Blythe, donated some of his father's possessions to the College's archives. They included a copy of his patent for time release capsules, awards, speeches, certificates, photos, and articles. Also donated was a mortar and pestle that will be added to the museum's collection.

AAPS Chapter Earns Top Award
|
|
The ACPHS chapter of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) was recently named "Student Chapter of the Year," beating out more than 100 other schools for the honor. The award was presented at the AAPS Annual Meeting and Expo in November and accepted by Chapter President Chiara Evans.
This is the second year in a row that the ACPHS chapter has been recognized for their exceptional service and outreach. Last year the group received the second place award at the AAPS annual meeting. Congratulations to all of the officers, members, and advisor Associate Professor Andy Zheng on this remarkable achievement!
