PRC Named Finalist for Food Security Award
Pacific Rim College was named finalist for the Food Security award in the 2017 EcoStar Awards. The Vancouver Island EcoStar Awards recognize outstanding environmental achievements and leadership by businesses, organizations and individuals. These awards are given to local champions of initiatives, projects and innovations that contribute to a vibrant future in which our communities and ecology both prosper.
Diploma in Permaculture Design and Resilient Ecosystems
Pacific Rim College's newest program begins January 2018. This one-year diploma in Permaculture Design and Resilient Ecosystems is unlike any other in the world. The 1036-hour program, with classes three days a week, provides training for participants who are interested in creating regenerative food systems and lifestyles while developing resilient ecosystems. It offers robust curriculum in permaculture design, going beyond basic permaculture training while also including courses in business planning and project management, community development, natural building, and food and medicine systems. Much of the hands-on components will be based at the college's two herb farms on the Saanich Peninsula: Ravenhill Herb Farm and Tiny Tree Herb Farm. Highest Standard of Eco-Certification
For 2018, Pacific Rim College has again earned the green standard of eco-certification with the Vancouver Island Green Business Certification. The Vancouver Island Green Business Certification was built to recognize the efforts of local businesses that are reducing their environmental impact. For businesses, it is a guide to greening operations and educating staff. For consumers, it is a symbol that lets you know which businesses have green practices.
New Dean Named
We are pleased to announce the promotion of Rory Knapp-Fisher to the position of Dean of the School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Rory, an alumnus of Pacific Rim College, has served as Assistant Dean of the School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine since September 2016. He has been actively training in martial arts for over 20 years, and is the owner of Jin Therapeutics Sports Acupuncture in downtown Victoria.

A Journey around the Medicine Wheel
Join in an experiential learning weekend that will introduce the four directions and its related medicines. Learn how the Medicine Wheel influences our daily lives and how we can deepen our connection to create better harmony. Participants will explore the teachings of the four directions, journeying, Indigenous healing, animal medicines, and allies and learn while sharing through traditional story-telling. The teachings are held in a healing circle format and participation is a part of the circle teachings.

An Introduction to Eating Disorder Prevention and Intervention
Eating disorders are complex illnesses that most often require long-term, comprehensive treatment with a team of professionals specialising in the field. For individuals showing early signs of disordered eating (i.e., those on the low end of the spectrum), Holistic Nutritionists can play an important role in prevention efforts. Should they choose to advance their training in eating disorder intervention and care, Holistic Nutritionists can become an effective part of the collaborative team effort for clients at more advanced stages on the spectrum.

The Pulse and Channel Treatment Approach
This course will introduce a profound method of diagnosis and treatment that allows the practitioner to receive direct and instantaneous feedback from the patients body to guide the treatment and assess results. Students will learn how to use pulse, channel, and point palpation to enter into a therapeutic dialogue with the patient that enables the practitioner to know exactly where to put the needle and gauge its immediate effect.

Pacific Rim College is looking for an instructor to teach 90-120 hours of the Chinese Materia Medica. The candidate must have a degree or diploma in TCM and at least 5 years of experience. This on-site position is part-time offering 3-8 hours per week with a wage commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Instructor, Chinese Herbal Pharmacology
Pacific Rim College is looking for an instructor to teach a 45-hour course in Chinese Herbal Pharmacology. The candidate must have a degree or diploma in TCM and at least 5 years of experience. This on-site position is part-time offering 3 hours per week with a wage commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Clinical Instructor, Traditional Chinese Medicine
Pacific Rim College is looking for a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine to join our team of clinical supervisors. The candidate must be a Registered Dr.TCM in BC and have at least 3 years of clinical experience. This on-site position is part-time offering 3-12 hours per week with a wage commensurate with experience.
