Initial Designs for Woodchase Park Presented to Board

Woodchase Park Design Rendering

OJB Landscape Architecture presented initial design concepts - like the rendering shown above - for Woodchase Park to the Westchase District Board of Directors earlier this week. The 1.8-acre park site is located on Woodchase Drive just north of the Westpark Tollway and connects to a section of the District's trail network that runs along the CenterPoint powerline corridor between South Gessner Road and Briarpark Drive.

Suggested amenities for the park include a dog park, public restrooms, and a gathering lawn. Once approved by the Board, design work is expected to begin in May and should last about nine months. Construction of the park currently is planned to start in early 2019.

Playworks Annual Dinner and Auction April 21

Playworks is the leading nonprofit to leverage play as a tool to promote healthy levels of physical activity, increase social/emotional learning and improve school climate for low income and at-risk students. The organization operates at several Alief ISD elementary schools and the Westchase District Community Fund has supported Playworks with grants. Playworks employees designed three new games for this year's 21st Annual Corporate Challenge.

Playworks will host their annual "Get in the Game" dinner and auction at 6 p.m., Saturday April 21 at the Hyatt Regency Houston, 1200 Louisiana Street.
Billed as an evening of cocktails, dinner, games and more in a showcase of inspiration, education, and play, this fundraising gala event celebrates the power of play to change life outcomes for the children of Houston.

Expanded Market Hours Starting Next Week
Daylight Savings Time begins this Sunday, March 11; make sure to turn your clocks forward one hour. This also means that, beginning Thursday, March 15, the market will be open from 3 to 7 p.m. through Thursday, November 1.

Spring Break Celebration on March 15
Next week is also spring break for many area schools. We're also seeing an increase in our vendors' strawberry crops. To celebrate, we'll have free face painting, we'll be giving away mini beach balls and we'll have photo opportunities with our newest costumed market mascot, The Strawberry!  So bring the whole family to the market March 15 for a berry good time.

The farmers market will offer free face painting on Thursday, March 15 as part of our spring break celebration.

Buff Burger Coming Soon to Westchase District

There's lots of activity going on over at CityWest Retail Center, located at 2550 CityWest Bouldevard: Ideal Dental and Tropical Smoothie Cafe soon will join MOD Pizza, Zoë's Kitchen and Yogurtland, leaving less than 2,000 square feet left available for lease.

Meanwhile, the 10,800 square feet under construction next door at 10550 Westheimer Road will see retail tenants Panera Bread and Buff Burger moving in with 3,800 sq. ft. still available. The building is expected to deliver later this spring.
