NEW MURAL ON WESTCHASE AUTO REPAIR BUILDING

Local artist Reginald Adams has painted a new mural on the eastern wall of Westchase Auto Repair at 10611 Westheimer Road. The mural is entitled "We Are All Connected," and it depicts a series of interlocking gears, signifying the interconnectedness of the community.

"The gears also pay reference to the nature of the auto repair business," Adams said. "The color elements include ethnic textile patterns and motifs that reflect the cultural diversity of the Westchase community."

The mural took a week to complete and used about 100 cans of spray paint. The project is just the latest example of public art commissioned by the District.

SMILES AT TARGET'S HEROES & HELPERS SHOPPING EVENT

Thanks to Target, West Houston Assistance Ministries and our Westchase District Patrol officers for making the Heroes & Helpers holiday shopping event a seasonal success. Last week, officers led 30 local children on a shopping spree for Christmas gifts courtesy of Target at 10801 Westheimer Road.

"We're grateful to WHAM for identifying youth who could really use a pick-me-up at the holidays, as well as to Target for providing the gift cards for them to use," said Don McKinney, Westchase District's public safety director. "Heroes & Helpers is a great way for our officers to form positive relationships with local children and it feels great to put smiles on everyone's faces."
