Grade 5-8 Annual Ski Trip

We had a great day on the slopes at Wintergreen today! Our annual ski trip included close to 90 students, parents and staff. We were especially impressed by our beginner skiers today as they persevered through the morning and started zooming down the hill in the afternoon! We hope everyone had a wonderful day!

The invitations to our "Peabody and the Chocolate Factory" gala should have arrived in your mailbox last week! Please let the front office know if you did not receive one.

Enrollment Agreements 2018-2019

We are already looking forward to another fantastic year at Peabody in 2018-19! Your child’s Enrollment Agreement for the 2018-19 school year is now available on your parent portal. Please complete and sign the agreement electronically by logging in to your   portal account . In addition, please submit your enrollment fee of $150 by check to the Front Office. 

Your Enrollment Agreement and Enrollment Fee are due no later than Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. in order to hold your child’s space for the 2018-19 academic year.  The deadline for re-enrollment is firm. There are substantial waiting lists in many classes, and places will be offered to waiting families after  4:00 p.m .  on February 7th.

Support Peabody’s 8th Grade Valentine’s Day Fundraiser!

Send your Peabody student a special treat for Valentine’s Day and support the 8th Grade Legacy Project! For a $5 contribution, the Peabody Panther will deliver a plush toy and a personalized note to your favorite Peabody student! Supplies are limited so  order  soon!

The “Let Someone Fill Your Shoes” campaign that collects and distributes shoes for the homeless was a huge success. Peabody received more than 150 pairs of new and used but usable shoes throughout the month of January for a wonderful cause. Thank you once again for your support and generosity.

This Week in Middle School...

  • Quarter Two Progress Reports were sent home. Please notify the office if you did not receive one for your student.

  • Our boys' basketball team won games against Covenant and Little Keswick. Our girls' team lost a thrilling game to Covenant.

  • The swim team competed in the Junior Varsity Invitational in Warrenton. Jaya Vaidhyanathan and Larissa Barbosa Ferreira both set personal bests. Jaya also finished 7/52 in the 50 meter backstroke. Great job girls!

Coming Up....

  • Our swim team has a meet at St. Catherine's in Richmond Sunday night starting at 6:00PM.

  • Our girls' basketball team has a game on February 6th at home versus Charlottesville Catholic starting at 4:30PM. The boys' basketball team also has a game February 8th at home versus Field School at 4:00PM. Come out and support our Panthers!

  • The Middle School Dance is Friday, February 9th starting at 6:30PM.

THANK YOU- Thank you to everyone that was able to attend the January PPF meeting. We’re glad the weather finally cooperated! Also, special thanks to everyone that showed their support at Panera on Wednesday evening. Though we don’t have a final total yet, we think the fundraiser was a great success! 

GAME NIGHT- Game Night is just around the corner! It takes a small army of volunteers to make Game Night fun and successful. We want to thank you immensely for your willingness to be a Game Master or to help with setup and cleanup. Prior Game Masters should have received the email invite earlier today and we encourage everyone to sign up early to reserve your preferred game or time slot! Stay tuned here and join us at the PPF Meeting on February 9th for more exciting Game Night announcements!

  • Valentine's Day is Wednesday, February 14. Peabody students love to celebrate their friendships on this special day! Students are welcome to bring cards or goodies to distribute to all of their classmates, but we ask you to please refrain from bringing in candy or other sugary treats.

  • Albemarle High School visitation day is on Tuesday, March 27th . This day invites interested students to come visit AHS from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm. Counselors will hold an information meeting for parents/guardians at 1pm. Families that are interested should contact Sheena Washington in the AHS School Counseling office at 434-974-4321 or by email at [email protected] to sign up. Due to the fact that students will need to be assigned to a group, they will need parents to RSVP no later than March 20th.

  • Western Albemarle High School will host their annual Private School Orientation on Friday, February 16th from 9:15-10:45

  • February 10 - Kid*Vention Family Science Festival from 10am to 3pm at the Key Recreation Center. Exhibitors from around the area will be on deck to provide kids ages 3-10 and their family hands-on STEM activities. This event is free and open to the public, no registration required.

  • March 8 (deadline) - the Society of Women Engineers at UVA invite you to apply to attend the Middle School Exploration held on March 18 from 11am to 4pm. The program is designed to give middle school girls a comprehensive look at engineering through hands-on demonstrations, a design activity, a speaker, lab tours, and lunch with current engineering students. Apply now.
