WISCONSINEYE'S NEWSMAKERS PROGRAM FEATURES COUNTY LAWSUITS AGAINST OPIOID MANUFACTURERS
 
On December 14, 2017, WisconsinEye Senior Producer Steve Walters talked with Wisconsin Counties Association Executive Director Mark O'Connell, Wood County Board Chair Lance Pliml, and Eau Claire County Board First Vice Chair Colleen Bates on the lawsuits filed on behalf of 48 Wisconsin counties against pharmaceutical companies over the opioid epidemic.

Senate Bill 491 - the collection and maintenance of certain public library data by the Division for Libraries and Technology,  authorizing small, rural libraries to apply for information technology block grants and educational technology training grants, and making appropriations. WCA is monitoring this bill.

Assembly Committee on Transportation, 10:30 a.m.
Assembly Bill 716 - municipal welcome signs in the highway right-of-way. WCA is monitoring this bill.

Joint Legislative Audit Committee, 10:00 a.m.
Senate Bill 511 - audits performed by the Legislative Audit Bureau. WCA is monitoring this bill.

Assembly Committee on State Affairs, 1:00 p.m.
Assembly Bill 225/ Senate Bill 307 - placement of cigarettes, nicotine products, or tobacco products by retailers and providing a penalty. WCA is monitoring this bill.

Assembly Committee on Regulatory Licensing Reform/Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Energy, 11:00 a.m.
Assembly Bill 547/ Senate Bill 600 - permitting and mitigation requirements for nonfederal and artificial wetlands and state assumption of the federal regulatory program governing the discharge of dredged or fill material into navigable waters. WCA is monitoring this bill.

Assembly Committee on Rural Development and Mining, 10:00 a.m.
Assembly Bill 731 - qualification of newspapers to receive compensation for publication of legal notices. WCA is monitoring this bill.
