An elderly Oakland woman called in crisis.
Her water service was shut-off, she had a 48-hour notice on her electric bill, and she was behind on her rent. The caller had trouble paying the bills after some unforeseen expenses. Her adult son had been helping with the household bills while he was living with her but had recently moved out. 2-1-1 provided the caller with referrals for Season of Sharing through Community Resources for Independent Living (CRIL), the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), and to Catholic Charities of the East Bay for the Keep Oakland Housed Program.
