Top 5: Your Favorite Thing About the Holidays
We asked you to share your favorite thing about the holiday season -- and it's no surprise that giving back to our kids tops the list! The Top 5 responses are below, and congratulations to our giveaway prize winner, Kathy Boyd at Trevista Elementary!

5. " My favorite thing during the holiday season is choosing students from the Giving Tree and buying gifts for them! My daughter and I chose a child from Trevista Elementary to sponsor. It is so much fun shopping for little ones. -- Kimberly Hunter, Denver Literacy Fellows

4. " I love going back home to Arkansas to have Christmas with my family. We all open presents together at my parents' house. This year my son -- who was born in June -- and his cousin born in April will be our two new additions." -- Sara Nath, Steele Elementary

3. " I'm extra excited this year because we get to spend Christmas with my side of the family, and my boys get to see my childhood tradition of being with family and staying up until midnight on Christmas Eve to open presents!"  -- Rocio Slazar, McGlone Academy

2. " Growing up, we knew the holidays had arrived when mom busted out the Latin American Christmas carols and played them until we were basically singing 'Mi Burrito Sabanero' in our sleep. To this day, I don't feel 100% festive until I've exposed myself to enough hours of NiƱos Cantores belting out the classics!"  -- Lucila Maccagno, Denver Center for International Studies

1. "One of my favorite things about the holidays is the Giving Tree that Trevista Elementary sponsors. Every December, the staff, their family and friends, community organizations and the North Denver Optimist Club adopt a needy student and buy them gifts. This year, 170 children will be receiving gifts. It has become a wonderful holiday tradition!"  -- Kathy Boyd, Trevista Elementary
