Patricia Piccinini: The Comforter
Australian artist Patricia Piccinini's strange, hyperreal yet sentimental sculptures are often rooted in her speculative visualizations of future species-beings transformed by, or even created by, developments in genetic engineering and technology. This theme is a common one for Piccinini, whose work incorporates (often obliquely) ideas and questions about the ethical implications of scientific progress and the conflicts in our culture between the natural and the man-made.

EXPOSED Exhibition
Wayne State University's Graphic Design Senior Studio class presents EXPOSED. This student-led exhibition focuses on what the word "exposed" means to each designer, with ideas ranging from the personal to the profound. The artists will depict their relationship to the concept of 'exposing,' to create work that is unfiltered and real. EXPOSED explores vulnerability and truth through experiences and stories, and invites the viewer to observe the raw nature of this exhibition.
