"Poetry Out Loud" competition held in Upper School Library
On Dec. 1, six Upper School boys recited poems to qualify for the state and national "Poetry Out Loud" competitions that will take place this spring.

"PaperBoy," the Middle School magazine, is now available online. Stories include a review of the Middle School play "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," an article on History teacher Jon Piper's trip to Israel and a Q & A with teaching intern Pat Wood.

Third-grade BUILD project marks the completion of Global Read Aloud book
Just before the Thanksgiving break, Jen O'Ferrall's 3rd-grade reading group completed a BUILD (Boys Using Innovation to Learn and Design) project. The boys worked with the Learning Commons team on an activity to celebrate the completion of this year's Global Read Aloud book, Fenway and Hattie. The boys had a blast building and uncovering clues!

New Chinese course empowers boys with global connections
A new Mandarin Chinese course, taught by Hanna Zhu, involves a cultural exchange with students in Changsha, Hunan Province, in China. Video chat sessions - which are held one-on-one every two weeks as a homework assignment - last between 10 and 20 minutes and are supported by an app called WeChat. READ MORE AND WATCH

In December, the 3rd- grade choir sang at River Road Presbyterian Church and the joint 5th-grade strings ensemble performed at the Jefferson Hotel.
