We're thrilled to announce that Irv Katz, former president and CEO of the National Human Services Assembly, joins us as a senior fellow! His wisdom and experience are invaluable. Much of his career prior to the Assembly was with United Way, including stints as a senior vice president at United Way of America (now United Way Worldwide) and as president of the United Way of Central Indiana (Indianapolis and environs), though his career began at a historic settlement house also in Indianapolis.

Tennesseans Tell Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN) to Support the Supporting Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Act
In May, Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Bob Casey (D-PA) introduced the
Supporting Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Act (S. 1091),
which would create a federal task force charged with developing and disseminating information to help grandparents and other relatives raising children.
Now cosponsors of the bill are urging passage before the end of the year. Senator Lamar Alexander from Tennessee is chairman of the Senate HELP committee responsible for the legislation. He has the power to make this bill a priority. If you are from Tennessee, call Senator Alexander's office at (202) 224-4944 or email him and urge him to "pass the Supporting Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Act this year."
