"The Christians" Rev. Thom Belote, preaching

"The Christians" - currently playing at Playmakers and featuring our own Glenn Mehrbach and The Community Church Choir - explores a church schism that results from the minister adopting a universalist theology and telling the congregation that there is no Hell. Rev. Thom will preach about the play and about true stories of preachers who became universalists.

MUSIC NOTES
The Community Church Choir will be singing music they've been singing for "The Christians," along with "Go Out!," a joyful piece by Elizabeth Alexander with words adapted from the words John Murray. The choir will also help the congregation in singing "Love Has Already Won."

IFC SIGN-UP KIOSK vs. NOTEBOOK Since the repurposing of the Kiosk for announcements during Coffee Hour,the sheets to sign up to help with the IFC dinners that will occur soonest have been posted on it. Sheets for the whole year ahead are in a black labeled notebook in the bookcase very close to the hall from the Commons to the restrooms. Sign either place, according to how far you plan ahead. Let Eleanor Armstrong know you are coming in the week before, as she does not always get to church to see the sheets.

SIGN-UPS BEGIN FOR PREACHING PRACTICUM 2018 Each spring Rev. Thom offers a sermon writing class to a small group of church members. Those members then deliver their sermons on Sundays during June and July. The class is a transformational experience. Preaching Practicum 2018 meets

Alyssa Hinton's show, Earth Consciousness and Cultural Revelations, will be on exhibit in the sanctuary during March and April.
Using vibrant colors that awaken the soul, mixed media artist, Alyssa Hinton, illustrates a theme of cultural reawakening and regeneration through her unique southeastern Native American imagery. Alyssa Hinton's reception will be held in the Commons on Sunday, March 11, 1-3pm.
